Home Menu Set-up Article
The Menu Setup section allows you to create and manage the items your restaurant offers for ordering. This includes organizing your food and drinks into categories, adding individual menu items, and customizing each product with extras and variants.
Step 1: Create Categories
Start by creating broad categories to group your menu items. These help customers navigate your menu more easily.
Examples of categories:
Starters
Mains
Desserts
Drinks
Sides
Meal Deals
To create a category:
Go to your Merchant Dashboard
Open the Menu Setup section
Click “Add Category”
Enter a category name and save
Step 2: Add Menu Items
After creating categories, you can start adding your individual menu items under each category.
To add an item:
Click “Add Item” within the relevant category
Fill in the following fields:
Name – The name of the dish or product
Example: Margherita Pizza
Description – A short description of the item
Example: Classic pizza with mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil
Price – Base price for the item
Optional: Upload an Image
Recommended format: JPEG or PNG
Click Save once the item is complete.
Step 3: Add Extras (Optional)
You can add extras to any item—these are optional add-ons that the customer can select. Extras can be free or have an additional cost.
Examples of extras:
Add Extra Cheese (+£1.00)
Add Garlic Sauce (+£0.50)
Add Cutlery (Free)
Add Side Salad (+£2.00)
To add extras:
Open the item you want to edit
Scroll to the Extras section
Click “Add Extra”
Enter the name, description (optional), and price (if any)
Save the changes
You can add multiple extras to one item.
Step 4: Add Variants (Optional)
Variants let customers choose between different versions of the same item—great for things like size, portion, or recipe variations.
Examples of variants:
Size: Small (£6.00), Medium (£8.00), Large (£10.00)
Drink Option: Classic Mojito, Strawberry Mojito
Protein Option: Chicken, Beef, Vegan
To add variants:
Open the item you want to edit
Scroll to the Variants section
Click “Add Variant”
Create an option group (e.g., Size or Protein Type)
Add the different choices, each with their own name and price
Save the changes
Best Practices
Use clear names and descriptions so customers know exactly what they're ordering
Include images where possible—items with images typically perform better
Use extras and variants to reduce confusion and improve upselling opportunities
